Hi all, I have another couple of questions which may well get me laughed off this forum but as we all know I am as thick as **** anyway I can't make it much worse.

Firstly is this a decent price for a service kit eBay.co.uk: LANDROVER 90/110 200TDI 1990-1994 SERVICE KIT **NEW** (item 150060423523 end time 15-Jul-07 12:25:48 BST)
or would I be cheaper to get it all individually?

Secondly and probably the most stupid question anyone has asked on here. As I have no real experiance working on vechicles the only reason I have had to jack a vechicle up is to change the wheel and after looking at haynes it says that you should jack from under the diff but it just seems a bit of centre and a bit odd to jack from under the diff and my little bottle jack has a tiny head on it and looks like it would slip right off. I realise this is a fairly simple thing but I really don't want to cock something up by making a really simple error so I thought I would enquire as to what is the best way to jack my 110?

And lastly what do you guys recommend to fill up your gearbox and diffs as I got a transfer pump from difflock but it didn't really pump the oils very well. It actually seemed more designed for transfering fuel rather than oils. So what would you recommend?

I am now prepared for some severe **** taking :eek:
 
1) check Paddocks price.
2) I always jack under the spring attachment point on the axle, so only one side gets jacked at a time.
3) I use a modified pressure sprayer.
 
Like a hozelock pressure sprayer? What sort of jack do you use? What is paddocks website when I tried to have a look I couldn't find a catalogue?

Just checked paddocks I hadn't even thought about checking them and it is £16.27 so a bit cheaper.

Fer ****s sake yer daft **** why would anyone tek the **** out of some well asked questions?

Ask at yer local car spares shop place they may not have the air filter, well mine dint, and the fuel and oil filters fit all manner of other vehicles so they should stock them and you won't have to pay postage.

As for your jack with a small head, go see a doctor....Then price up a trolly jack their a bit more unweildy but safer, if the vehicle rolls the jack will go with it a bottle jack will fall over, an do wot Floppy sez and only jack one corner at a time up, put the wheel you take off under the vehicle just in case and chock the wheel at the opposite corner front and back, have a look on Screwfix's site for wheel chocks, they've got some for large cars and commercial vehicles cheep as chips and handier than bricks.

As fer filling things try your Dorisiz kitchen funnel with a bit of hose and her measuring jug. A bit like this, http://www.landyzone.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=7354 take a panel or two out to do the gearbox.

And as fer **** tekin have a look at the original post date of the difflock fred you posted on, I reckon Chris will have died of old age by now!
 
yup modified Hoselock sprayer - pressurise sprayer, open tap and watch oil fill wotever. no trying to fight with plastic bottles n tubes n stuff. Nice n clean n easy to turn on n orf:D

as Grunt sez - trolley jack. Make sure its a good one - it will last fur effa. Although, i spose, if yu gonna do lots of orfroading it mite be worth considering a hi-lift.
 
i got a service kit from the land rover show at eastnor for £10. i thought paddocks were cheaper? my local auto place wanted £8 for a fuel filter! so im not going there again... jack? get a high lift! ;)

Thanks again guys, Paddocks were quite cheap so I think I will go for them as my local car spares shop is a bloody rip of merchant.

The only reason I posted on that difflock thread was because it was right at the top and it was a very good explantion and I don't normally check the dates on threads.

I asked before about getting a hi-lift but was told to stay clear by most people as trolley jacks are safer and easier.

How did you modifiy the sprayer?

I have been looking at jacks and axle stands and what sort of weight should I go for? Would a 3 tonne trolley jack and 3 tonne axle stands be strong enough?

Yes they would be more than enough, even if you lift the whole of the vehicle off the floor in one go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Thanks Grunt, In that case are 2 tonne folding axle stands ok? I am just a little bit dubious about axle stands that fold up!!

Always go OTT for weights etc. Go for the 3 tonne stands and jack and you'll never have to 'wonder if they'll hold'
