Started to service my TD5 today, first problem I couldn't get the fuel filter off. Used a filter strap no success, resulted in taking off the whole filter head unit. Next holding the filter head in a vice one of the mouting lugs snapped off while still trying to get the filter of...bo**ocks !
After carefully cutting the filter in half to gain access to the alan screw holding the filter in place I unscrewed this from inside the filter to finally get it apart.

I'm concerned now that there maybe debris / dirt in the fuel connections due to removing the filter head.. any advice on how to flush the system ? can i disconnect the fuel supply pipe at the engine and crank it over to flush fuel through ??

Next issue the rotor cap one screw has the threads stripped on the housing, maybe fix this with a helicoil insert.

All in all think some previous owner has been a little heavy handed on my TD5 !

I've had to remove the filter head to get one of the fuel pipes off, didn't bother with flushing just put it back on again, seems OK.
Also had similar problem with oil rotor cap, long time ago but I drilled out the cap holes which allowed a long bolt to drop / screw in to the cap and then through the housing body enabling a bolt to be attached below.

don't bother to helicoil the rotor housing, screw some threaded bar right through, put a nylock underneath then simply fasten down with a flanged nut...
