I pulled the cut out lever/switch on my ser3 diesel and it wouldn't go back in. It is fitted onto the ignition switch housing. I disconnected the cable leading to the pump and removed it. There is some sort of button in the hole where the pull lever/switch goes. It looks like it should go into the ignition mechanism but its not for moving. Any advice or have I baffled you?

It's the steering lock pin. When you puill the lever, and lock the wheel, it stops some pikey pushing the pull-knob back in. Turn yer ign key to position 2 and watch the pin magically dissapear...

....hopefully...

i may have an ignition switch with a working cut-out kicking about, i will have a look for you tomorrow night

Thanks for the replies, Yes I think it is the locking pin, unfortunately its bent now and wont go back in. G-man, if you have one I will purchase same from you, thanks.

My Diesel's fitted with a petrol ignition switch so the cut out springs right back in.
Anyone know where I could get a proper diesel one?

right i will have to give it a clean up and free it off a bit but i have found it! it was under a pile of TD parts lol, i can't find the clamp part that holds it to the column so you will need one of them(and new security bolts) but they are only a couple of quid (available separate from lrseries i think) also one of the bolts is snapped off in the thread so i will remove that (drill and easy out time)

ere crashbox....... that barrel and 'cut out switch' i have is working quite nice now ;) PM me if you want t mek an offer on it
