yep, wire it up to a work light mounted high up - I've got one connected via a relay to my reverse light so i can see where am going in reverse, and thats a real novelty

if you put a switch on the dash its a good idea to use an illuminated one so you dont forget its on......scary how many times I did before I changed the switch :crazy_driver:

'tis easy enough - my S3 hasn't got a reversing light switch so I cobbled one out of a coathanger and a motorcycle brake light switch. It's pull on, sprung return and comes with a nice spring on the actuator. Really useful and legal.
I don't think plod would be happy if you forgot to turn one off while you were driving.

I have a spot light from a peugeot on the back of mine... on a switch.
It's very useful when retarded bmw drivers come up behind you with fog lights on on a perfectly clear evening. They soon get the picture. (or crash and burn. which is preferable)
It would be a right pain if it wasn't on a switch though, if it was just off the g/b.

got mine on a switch. lamp is on a old jump lead clip and a bit of that boingy spiral cable so i can use it as an inspection lamp as well. tis wired to me interior lamp too so i can tell if its still on

It is easy enough to wire up. Not sure about 2a but there is a (tapped?) hole in the gearstick bracket that takes a switch. You then need to add a flexible angled piece of metal or plastic to the reverse spring bracket to push on the switch. Wire up a feed from ignition otherwise when you park on a hill and leave it in reverse you get a flat battery....DOH!
Trouble is s3 brake switches are pretty horrible to set up and need constant fiddling so I'm looking out for a better switch as I've had to readjust mine a few times (both brakes and reverse light) over the past year. Brake lights worked before setting off to MOT but not when I got there!
I'll try and remember to take a picture next time I'm up at garage while the floor is up!

I thought about using the brake switch but I believe that is a push to break, but if its going into the gearlever bracket then it would need a push to make switch. I think it could be done with a defender diff lock switch PRC2911. My gearlever bracket has not got the threaded hole that newer models appear to have so it would just be a hole and two locknuts.
