Hi all,
Got a 90 that doesn't like going in reverse until she's been on a run.
Tried gear box oil change with no difference . Any got any ideas.

Although this should not be affected by whether the box is warm or not, try the simple things first and unwind the reverse light switch out of the housing and see if it makes a difference.

I had this trouble with the same drivetrain in a Disco 1. First it wouldn't go into reverse. Then it wouldn't go into fifth, then started making a horrible noise on the way home with bad vibrations. When i got it home it wouldn't come out of gear. Then i persuaded it into neutral(combination of pleading, praying, waggling the stick then some tears) Then i drove it into the back garden. Now stick's stuck in neutralish position but in a gear. Not sure if it's first or reverse as it's wedged on a small hump in the garden. Need to winch it up over the hump to swap the tyres over.
Lost interest a bit after reading a layshaft or some other shaft is prone to shearing in the box then while searching for a second hand gearbox i bought a Disco 2...
