It can't be a Td5 they don't do high revs do they... must be a V8 with a turbo

I deduce sofar.... it's a Td5 as a turbo is mentioned and the belt must have been checked, quote: "Don't think its the belt".
water pump bearings use to squeal in the good old days but I don't hear about that now, that just fail.

Yip mine done that. Turned out to be manifold gasket. Cheap fix

if it is the belt just drop a bit of water onto it if it stops screeming its the belt if it deos not stop it then it could be bearing in pump its worth checking that first try rocking the belt wheel on the pump hope this helps
