Is £900 pound a fair scrap value for a damaged 110 csw 1995 that now has no MOT due to being in storage since accident.

I was hoping for 4500 and they would want 20% of that for scrap.
So is 900 fair - It does need two rear doors and soon both the fronts but could be repaired

No I wish - at the mo it's what I am hoping to get.
But with 900 taken out of it it only leaves 3600 for everything else which includes transport and a car to get to work at mean time!!
was thinking 900 was a bit steep but not sure what defenders scrap value is.

Have you thought about telling em that you want the vehicle dropped back home as part of the settlement?

Eventually got 3500 for an 85 CSW, buy back was 20% so £700, long story but bits were worth more....

Sounds like 20% is the going rate then.
I'm just annoyed because during storage the MOT has expired which makes my life difficult. I could have taken a hammer to the track rod or hitched hiked with a track rod and 17mm spanner and a big hammer then driven it home. Now I can't!!!!

Probably rules to stop this, but could book a MOT local to you.

You cant drive your vehicle on the road if the MOT has expired. You could be prosecuted if caught.

The only exception is if youve already booked an MOT and are driving your vehicle to the test centre.

Here is the legisation....

Schedule 2 - Exempt Vehicles (Vehicle testing etc).

22 (1) A vehicle is an exempt vehicle when it is being used solely for the purpose of

(a) submitting it (by previous arrangement for a specified time on a specified date) for a compulsory test, a vehicle identity check, a vehicle weight test or a reduced pollution test, or

(b) bringing it away from any such test or check.

(1A) A vehicle is an exempt vehicle when it is being used solely for the purpose of

(a) taking it (by previous arrangement for a specified time on a specified date) for a relevant re-examination, or

(b) bringing it away from such a re-examination.

No mention of distance, it's very clear, a copper might try and argue the point but the wording is precise and there is no grey area

A 1995 110 CSW will be a lot more that 4.5k

How clean is it ? Pre accident

Have a look on eBay for same condition ones an push them for that price

Book an MOT (you dont have to actually go there do you).
Change the trackrod and drive the thing home.
Dont let them take the **** re: value. Have a look and get loads of examples of similar vehicles and insist they pay what it is worth.

Or tell them to fix it as now liability has been admitted you want your property restored to the same condition as before the crash. If you have fully comp insurance or have paid extra for legal cover instruct them to start recovery proceedings against the other driver (not their insurance company) for recompense including any out of pocket expenses. You are fully entitled to do this and it tends to focus the other parties mind so they start giving their insurance company grief as well.
