£0.01 for your thoughts...

Getting down to the finer points of my disco's faults, my drivers seat base is going all soggy and crap on the door edge (short previous driver sliding in i think!) so i'm looking to remedy this.

Not particularly bothered about replacing the entire seat as it is only this part of the base that is bad (not really bad but it bugs me!), looking at the seats i can see no difference between the driver and passenger squab and looking in RAVE i see to change the seat cover the cushion has to be removed.

My thinking is, nip down to the scrappy and cut off the cover from a passenger seat base (which should - i hope - be less worn than the drivers) then re-cover with my cover and reinstall.

Has anyone removed the seat base without removing the whole seat from the car, then removing the frame from the seat as suggested by RAVE...?

Come on, it's only 4 bolts holding the seat in and you would spend far more time trying to undo clips with the seat in place.

Yep, i know - but i lent my torx bit set to a work mate who was made redundant on friday and i'm not about to add "can i have my tools back" to his worries just yet!
