Is it safe for me to run the car with just water in the cooling pipes for a week?

Im hoping to flush out the remnents of any oil following my recent rebuild.

I have a bottle of OAT antifreeze ready to go in, but didnt want to chance spoiling it. Have flushed all hoses and rad with garden hose, but still keep finding 'blobs of emulsified oil'

Any ideas folks??

Thanks matey, just driven a mile and a half and all seems well :D

Got to wait until Friday to get taxed up - not worth paying for August now.

tsk - dont hit anyones kid!

yu can get special cleaning fluid to put in the system - just cant think wot its called.

cummon guys help me out here.

a cheap way to flush it out is to use dishwasher liquid, i use it all the time and i got the tip from a main dealers ;)

Use forte cooling system flush. May need 2 or 3 cycles but it is excellent and is what the MGR dealers used on the countless HGF repairs they do each week.

safe for a bit on water but dont forget that anti freeze also stops corrosion iv seen old alloy heads of classic cars rotted to bits as they had no antifreeze in the good old days so im told

Yes, I know and I agree it won't hurt but I just added that bit to show my part of the wisdom tree you see ??:D :D :D

don't be such a tight wad, bung some proper coolant in and save yerself any problems by running without it..remeber its only a couple of squid fer the right stuff and countless millions to fix yer gaylander

hang on Snot - he wants to clear the ****e outa his system - antifreeze aint gonna help do that - is it?
wot do yu think of the ol' Forte stuff?

no it ain't but it will stop any problems that will occur because he ain't got proper coolant in it..
as fer flushing it i'd bung the hose in it and back flush the **** over night
