Hi guys , new to this , i have a 1972 s3 88 diesel. i bought it a few months back and when its cold it gives a misfire and blows a bit of blue smoke out even once its warm at a certain rpm it gives a mis and again a puff a blue smoke . i think the fuel pump needs timed ? any help to get it running better would be great ??

ye sounds like its burning oil. could be worn piston rings or valve stem oil seals. either way pretty big job.

not a pretty big job at all ive become a dab hand at sorting the 2.25 diesel 10j injun

how i stopped the chuff and blue smoke on mine was fitting new valve stem oil seals an oil change as mine was black as fook and thin as sheeps **** and sort the tappets to the correct gap and a shot of injector cleaner in the tank ;);)

for me to do the valve stem oil seals with taking the head off and doing it properly takes a couple of hours with a new head gasket and decoke of the head :D:D
