Evening all :)

Thought I would start a thread about my journey into the unkown. I have purchased a FL1 commercial with 207000 miles on the clock and thought this would be a good place to report my progress.

A bit of background:

I am a Telecoms contractor living in North Wales so a lot of the sites I visit are in the wilderness, usually they are OK to get to in the summer but in the Winter they are, lets say difficult. After killing my Mondeo this year (snow chains and winter tyres fitted) trying to get to site, I purchased a Partner Van. Now this thing gets to places it really shouldn't but it is now quite battle scarred, mainly underneath. Driving farm tracks/filelds etc. takes it's toll. I was considering biting the bullet and going for a Disco 3 but the fuel consumption doing 1000 miles plus a week was a killer so decided to keep the van and buy my Freelander.

The Freelander cost me £2k and is in very good condition considering the mileage. It has full LR history upto 189000. I'm intrigued to see how many more miles I can get out of it (mostly off road).

What i have done so far:

4 x Michelin Alpins fitted
Air filter changed
Upgraded crank case filter fitted
New clutch

To do:

Ordered a switch for the heated front screen. Everything is there bar the switch so hopefully it will work.
Oil and filter change, got the parts just need a nice day
Change coolant

Other than that nowt else.

Will keep you all updated on the progress :D

Cheers

Simon

Just a quick update. For all you doubters out there my Freelander has lived up to its reputation and has let me down. Broke down on the M62 and got recovered to the garage, seems the fuel pump has killed itself

To top it off a TNT driver in an 18 ton wagon to a disliking to my van and wrote it off yesterday, not a good week really

Thanks for the concern, I'm fine wasn't in my van when it got hit, it seems TNT drivers don't know what mirrors are for.

The FL is in the garage and is covered under warranty so will be sorted soon, gonna make the most of this warranty before it runs out ;)
