Any help on this one?

Before leaving for a desert trip I notice what I thought was an OIL leak dripping down the inside rear brake hub.


Turns out it's break fluid. But I'm on the road now and there isn't much in the way of assistance out here.

Got some dot 4 with me so I can top up the res, but is there any way I can slow the leak? Must be coming from the pistons, lines look good going into the back, nothin loose.

Any help appreciated.

Id be tempted to clamp the flexy to that caliper restricting flow.

Obviously id be mindful of the fact you now have a brake imbalnce so no stamping hard on the brakes but given your in the middle of the desert 3 brakes are better than none to get you home.
 
hard brake lines - it's a 1985 110. Drum brakes. Wondering if I can do something like take the cylinder off, clean it up and strip to the seals, re-fit and replace.

I could try and pinch the steel lines, but I guess they might crack.
 
I think top drive meant the flexi hose that runs from the chassis to the top of the rear axle. Failing that pay for my air fare and I'll bring you a new one out[emoji1]
 
Window or aisle marmaduke?

Flexi clamped! Topping up as I go. Not too much leaking at the mo, but maybe due to te lack of any real breaking so far. We'll see. Luckily mobile phone coverage out here is AMAZING!

There's a bloody long queue for the plane bud I hope my ticket is waiting for me when I get to the end....

 
I thought it was ep90, so I changed the seals (& wheel bearings) just before heading out. Turned out it's clear, smells like BF and the BF in the tank is going down.

Marmaduke - boarding begins in 40 minutes.
 
looks like **** , smells like **** , sticks like ****..... thatll be **** then.

Clamp flexy good and tight - replace flexy when you get home. worth the 10 quid to have piece of mine you wont run out of DOT and have no brakes... tis not like the hand brakes very effective is it :d

made it back! clutch mast cylinder started to leak as well, nice pool collecting under the peddle, but found a shop that sold DOT 4 in a little out of the way desert road. They said they dealt with the heavy haulage traffic for the oil fields.

Amazing trip, thanks to the guys above for the advice.
 
Some photos I the adventure. Truly amazing. Sand is firm, albeit in some places you can get very stuck. But nothing for miles and miles so if you have to be sensible.
 
The gentleman driving the jeep refused to go first. The Landy smashed through the peaks of the dunes and the jeep followed. Other times he went 'round' the bit I was stuck in.

However we did pull the Landy out of a really soft bit. Would not have done this one on my own!
