I aggree Guy, that what I put in my post but someone corrected me & said the Transfer box ..i.e. shuv a fuse in No 11 ....(Which I have never done!!!)

Well I expect that you would easily pass the VCU test at 30ft/lbs if the transfer box were in neutral...
.I still don't know if mine is knackered or not. I'm assuming it's partially knackered!

Wammers (Tony) will be along in a bit ..with a definative explanation (Whatever Tony says to do, I DO IT & its never bin wrong so far !!!!)
I will go through this again once more. Firstly VCU is same on RRC and P38 same check methods apply. If you are checking it with prop removed. Apply 27Nm (20 lb feet) of torque to flange retaining nut in a clockwise direction. If there is no resistance replace coupling. If there is resistance. Apply 20Nm (15 lb feet) of torque to flange retention nut in a clockwise direction for one minute. WITHOUT exceeding the torque figure the flange should move 25 to 30 degrees in that time. If it takes more than that torque settting to move flange that amout in a minute change coupling. Those are the Rave instructions for the RRC, P38 is no different. If you are doing test with prop connected simply use a torque wrench and socket on halfshaft retaining nut through centre of wheel and multiply torque settings by 3.54 (diff ratio) for same results. 27 Nm becomes 95.58 Nm (60 lb feet). 20 Nm becomes 70.8 Nm (53.1 lb feet). Although these maybe slightly exceeded because of resistance through sun and planet wheels in diff as torque is applied. So this method is not as accurate as the flange test would be. But is good enough to find a seized viscous coupling.

There's always one in a group. It has to be done on a full moon at high tide with one eye shut if you must know.

Now,now Keith let us not get frivolous. This is a serious discussion. Pink Tutu and tights of course, but it is difficult to stand on one leg when you are on your back under the Rangie. It is also quite possible that a grown man walking around Fleetwood in a Tutu and pink tights may end up on his back, with a sore chin, specially if you ask someone to help you with your coupling.
