Well ive got a cock for a neighbour.......:mad::mad::mad::mad:

anyway ive now got tdi so where do i plug in my rpm as ive been running it arf the coil on my V8.Does it come arf the alternator?:confused::confused::confused:

does it need fuseing:confused::confused:
 
There should be a spade connector on the alternator there will be a fuse but not sure where it's located or the rating.
 
There is a "spare" wire.

I guess the fuse can go anywhere in line.Would it be relevent to the alternator output or a flat rate....

its a tapping off one of the coils, so it provides the gauge with a pulse, that would come from the coil on a petrol. The connection on the alty is labelled W.
 
I have it all wired up and there is a spare wire with a black plastic cover over the slide clip wire.There is no letter id.Can i test the current to id it as a RPM feed?
 
BoB i have a feeling yer petrol (coil fed) alternator won't work on yer tdi, if you run it off the alternator it will run about 3 times too high and yer'll be ticking over at about 4000 rpm! You can get a special diesel one off of fleabag though, if yer so inclined.

That's what i got for mine and it didn't work, on the 8 setting it ticks over at just under 4000 rpm, the 6 and 4 are proportionately higher (ie 4 is double, 6 is 1.5x). As soon as you rev it goes off the scale! I have seen a specific diesel one on there for the alternator but yer dunt really need one on a doozle like yer duz on a v8, it will only go so high and at that point yer teeth will fall out!

only if yer got a really good tdi! I think they top at about 4 and a half (but plenty of torque though)

I think the chainsaw in yer sig is running in reverse, just noticed!

So it will not need rpm gague then just alot of polygrip...

what rpm does turbo come in and can i use supercharger?
