Hi,

A few months ago I bought my first Landrover: a 2012 Freelander 2 2.2d auto with 144k on the clock. Noticed a coolant leak (around 50% a week) - got the dealer to change the EGR valve under warranty. Problem fixed. Just got the timing belt and water pump changed, as there was no evidence of when it was last changed, notice it's much tighter when driving.

One last issue to be resolved...

On a run when the car is held using the foot break - at junctions and lights - the RPM dips and the engine gets close to stalling. Happens just as the car comes to a stop. Idle remains rough whilst holding on the foot break. Stick it into P or N - the RPM is normal/stable.

Any ideas what the issue might be?

Thanks in advance,

James

Hi, did you manage to cure this. I have the same issue and no fault codes to diagnose it easily. Thanks

Try the negative earth, as it may affect as brake is on. I have had this on fords and others but not on land rovers. Negative to battery and motor and any other you can find. Keep us informed please.

Will check this thanks. Already tried a fuel filter and throttle body as I know they are common issues.

Yeah Jack, but you have no fault codes so not usually a failing sensor or other parts. Need to think basic things like earth or buildup in intake or intercooler. Not usually exhaust as sensors would bring up a fault...like dpf. Also because it's at idle it's not a air hose leak. In my head I'm thinking could clean wire connectors at brake pedal sensor, the one that knows the pedal is depressed so stop lights work. OR/and fuse for same thing for brakes...think that kind of thing as it's only at idle with brake pedal depressed. Keep us informed please.

Could put a cleaner in fuel system like "clean drive" , on quarter of a tank. It gives a higher octane boost to stop the fall at idle. May help to figure out if it's electric or mechanical, like egr or gooey stuff in bottom of intercooler.
