Thanks biggeeeee, I often do this on ebay as a matter of precaution, as there are so many dodgy sellers. I'll keep plugging away as I've got a budget off the Mrs. to stick to

that first one is a bit expensive for what it is, ill post a pic up of one that tubular and retails at 150.

Just got myself a 2nd hand Bearmach roof rack and was told that the maximum load is 50kg! That seem's a bit low to me considering it's a hefty piece of kit, so does anybody know any different. Or is the weight limit recommended due to the Disco's gutters? (Full size rack btw).

With the Series and defenders it was due to the structural weakness inherent in an alloy sided vehicle. Not sure about the disco, but 50Kg is deemed a safe load to avoid topheavy vehicles taking corners to fast and rolling. Once parked up the 50kg is out of the window or it would make roof tents obsolete. 2 adults + weight of roof tent & rack is probably nearer 150Kg. I had a roof rack on my 110 that didn't touch the roof or gutters at all. it fastened to the front screen hinges & a HD mounting and at the rear it fastened to the rear Crossmember and the body cappings. Use to belong to Midweb and was used for transporting telegraph poles off road..

tiz indeed mate, do half size ones aswell and a lower version for the rr's.
its the pipeline run that gets yer that dirty over in ellesmere, yer gonna have to get yer arse offroad soon matt, we are off the toms next week and yer more then welcome, tonnes of none damagin **** there. all the landys you ave seen at my place in kensington will be going apart from the ones that are on ther side that is lol.

Tnx for that redhand, I had to check because I've seen some Landy's roof racks piled high with allsorts! Now all I gotta figure out is where to put the tent, as that thing weighs in at nearly 45kg
. Might try and persuade the Mrs. to let me buy another Disco instead of the trailer she's after

im not a fan of powder coating either , slightest chip then rust sets in and undermines the plastic , it turnes to crap after a few years.
galvy or paint is better.
that looks like its made from square steel tube , must weigh a fair bit. ive got a steel brownchurch rack and its a bast'rd to lift. alloy would be best to keep the weight down , but expencive.
