Hi Folks

I am the latest to join the huge family of Land rover owners. I bought a 1995 2.5Tdi ES at the weekend with 80K miles. I have a couple of very quick questions:

Can anyone tell me how to use the little gear stick/diff lock system, this is my very first Land Rover and I have no clue what to do with it, I live in the country and I do anticipate that the car will be off road.

The gear box seems a bit whiney in 1/2/3 at low speeds, would I be correct is saying that they have a tendancy to whine? I have been told to change the gear box oil and this should help prelong the life of the box.

Is there anything to watch out for on the engine side of things?

hi

push the stick forward to get low range, back to get high range.
push the stick left (from any position) to get difflock (a light should come on the dash when the difflock is on).
Don't change it if you're moving faster than 5mph or if you have one wheel spinning faster than the others at the time, otherwise you might break it.
Just have a play with it and you'll figure it out easy enough.
