All being well, my new hood kit will be arriving from Exmoor Trim on the 18th...

So, I could do with some advice. Riveting. I have a hand riveter to attach the studs for the hood onto the side.

Are hand riveters OK or are those scissor types better? - is there much difference?

And rivets themselves - I have some in a tin from years back - is there much difference in quanlity between good / bad? What should I look for in good quality ones?

Cheers.

scissor everytime if you can get it in, hand ones hard work but have to be used when space is tight.

The lazy tongs are the best, sometimes when using the hand one when the rivet break the whole lot moves have seen a few scratched paint jobs cause of them

air and electric all the way, use them at work all the time where you cannot have anything bouncing and scratching stuff!

Sypher, you are such a tease - I was nursing a semi when I saw the picture - normal service was resumed when I saw the price.

Seriously though - do you reckon that I could hire one?

Talking of rivets and finishes I've still got some black ones from a box I bought to do a job on a classic car many years ago. I can't remember the job, but now and then I still use them when I want a slightly classier finish on something that's going to show.

I put my soft top tabs on with the normal cheapo type rivet gun...but mine's painted with a brush so not too bothered about scratches :D

Fine looking wagon Boris - is that the Wolf roll bar on it?

Thanks mate :D I don't think its wolf but it is an ex-mod roll bar.

The bloke i bought it from has cut the top rail off and put a different one on thats slightly lower down and then used pin clips to hold the original rail back on...quite handy because with the rail on, it's the same profile as a hoodstick and without it the bikini top fits better
