hi again. just a quick one. i have this 3.9v8 disco1 1994. when driving and i dip the clutch to change gear i find the revs are slow on dropping back to idle. now is this more likely to be the base idle adjustment. or the stepper motor. or the trottle body. which one is more likely to be the culprit. or is it something else .regards paul

If your idle RPM is high then your vehicles base idle maybe out or the idle control valve is iffy, so why not check them out, but have u checked the throttle cable isn't sticking.

HI THE REVS HAVE BEEN A LITTLE REVING THEN DROPS I CHECKED THE THROTTLE CABLE THATS FINE BUT WILL LOOK AT THE BASE IDLE TOMORROW.AND LOOK AT THE STEPPER MOTOR. thanks for the reply.i must say my motor was doing more mpg on gas when it was a auto. before i converted it to manual. reason i found this is because the auto has great control on keeping the revs low and picking speed up quickly.but the manual revs fly up you have to skate through the gears fast to keep the revs low.

In other words, auto rules :D:D
Does this settle the argument? Lol

i must say i have always had manuals. until i had this auto and i really enjoyed the small time i had untill the box packed up.auto are much better on the road they take all the hard work out of driving. But off road wellnot for me as you have much better control when desending.the lads who have autos are always on the brake as the vehicle wants to run away with them. and you dont want to be on the brakes when its muddy as hell and desending.this is were the manual is nice. But i do like the auto on the road very nice.
