It's the pump in the tank that isn't working I just fitted the injector pump by lining it up with the jetway on the pump shaft it does try to fire if I spray easy start down the inlet the pump in the tank used to come on when I first turned the ignition on then it would stop after it had pumped fuel up
:eek::eek: The pump timing needs to be accurately set with a dial gauge etc.

Don't really think you know what you are doing, you cannot just throw a pump on and expect it to work, it is timed to thousandths of an inch. The fuel pump will only run if the glow lamps are lit, it is powered from number six glow plug when ignition is turned on and engine is cold enough to need glows. Other than that on a pre 1999 engine it will only run when engine starts. On a post 1999 car it runs with glow plugs, when being cranked and whilst engine is running. If engine is cold but you have no glow lamp the lift pump will NOT run. Look in my "How to" for how to force it on if you think it is lack of fuel giving you problems.

This problem in the beginning pointed me to the ECU.

This problem is still pointing me to the ECU & this should of been diagnosticaly tested very first thing thing.
