Is it possible to switch the bog standard heating control panel for the LCD climate control unit and if so is it just a straight switch ?

in a nutshell, IMO the answer is NO cos many things are involved

I would pull your heating dials out and have a look at any connectors / loose unused connectors on the back.
You can get the climate control units on ebay for about £20!
Problem may be you dont have any temperature sensors for the climate to work off inside the car. But they may be fitted in the factory!
I assume you dont have AC?

Nope no AC just recirulation. I know it sounds like a daft question but I am pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to install cruise control.Therefore, thought I may as well ask about climate control in case all of the gubbins are waiting behind panels like cruise control is.

This is my first LR having converted from Jap 4x4 so still have much to learn.

What's behind the dash is just a part of a vehicles air condition kit there's some big stuff under the bonnet also the heater unit in the dash is very different.

The ac principle is just the same, be it a Land Rover or a Japanese vehicle.
