Now I have the Disco 2 I'm already considering a remap... The performance is fine on the motorway, just some of the hills round here can only just be taken in 5th and a little more oomph for overtaking would be nice. Note I will occasionally tow a small RIB (under 1te) in the future. I like the way the natural gait of the car is 50-60 on A roads and 70-75 on DCs.

Now I've read up a little here and elsewhere on the more basic options; basically a remap, a remap + intercooler, and a remap +intercooler +boost adjustment. If I went for any option it would be with a reputable mapper (BAS most likely as they're quite near to me).

So what's the general consensus around remapping vs reliability?
Which of the above is better for overall reliability (I know EGTs have a role to play)?
Is there anything else I should be thinking about? - Current mileage is just over 100k miles.

I'm going to get a few miles done first, just to see if any other issues present themselves so I'm in no rush.

Many members on the forum here sing the praises of Mike from Dynachip. He's even closer, you'll find him at the end of your driveway once you've made the appointment with him. In other words he'll come to you.

I'm getting mine done next month but only after it's been serviced, then ill keep on top of the maintenance. I think as long as I use the extra oomph to improve the driveability instead of hooning it everywhere and keep on top of services a decent remap can only be a good thing. Im just getting a stage 1, I think anything more and you probably need to install egt gauge.
You've probably already read that the td5 can be improved just by keeping various sensors clean/serviceable and an egr delete/decat etc, so I'd advise eveythings in good order and you've done the mechanical 'tuning' first. Cant wait to get mine done, they are rather sluggish arent they?

Yes Mike at dyno chip if the remap had not improved the performance then I would have sold it
