Afternoon all

I know this is really minor but it's the only think on my P38 that isn't working (and therefore bugging me).

I've got a replacement sensor and after looking at RAVE and Rangerover.net for instructions on changing I've hit a barrier.

I can't get the drivers side front foglight out without breaking it which means I can't free off the leccy plugs etc. from the 3 washer pumps in the reservoir which means I can't drop it enough to replace the sensor.

Rather than take it to my local indy chap (who I'm sure could do it) I'm thinking that if I disconnect the foglight bulbs & vent tubes I can then remove the front bumper (2 bolts & 2 white clips) I can then get to the pumps.

According to RAVE it seems that taking off the front bumper is really easy, apart from it being heavy - anyone done it and if so, am I on the right track and is there anythieng I should be aware of when I do take it off. I assume that, as Mr Haynes is fond of saying, "re-fitting is a reversal of removal"

In theory, the bumper comes off easily. In my experience they are rusted on. When you get the bolts out (if you can get the bolts out!) the bumper need to drop a little and it should then just lift off.
I take it the nuts are rusted on the back of the headlight and the whole bolt is turning? On mine, I cut the bolts off, removed the headlight and fitted new bolts. Not sure removing the headlight would actually help you though as it's effectively in a metal box.

Two bolts on the front section (17mm socket), unplug fog lamp connectors and pull off vent tubes.
Now the mucky and hard bit....On each side section there is a Nylon "Block" attached to the bumper which locates inside a metal channel and is secured with a wire spring clip that "Hinges" down. This lot can get caked in muck and dried dirt which firmly hold it in place. Remove as much muck as possible and give the area a good dose of WD40.
Get an assitant to hold the bumper level, unclip the wire spring clips and "Jiggle" the bumper off, each side at a time.
Before refitting, clean the nylon blocks and steel channels and grease them well...the bumper will fly back on !!..Refit the spring clips and the two front bolts, etc., etc.,

Sorry I forgot about the plastic blocks and springs, Irish to the rescue as usual Also grease the nose of the crash cans that the bumper bolts to before you put it back.

cheers for the advice, loks like this is a go-er. The prob with the foglight is that 3 of the 4 screws holding it in are rusted solid and because the washer bottle is in I can't get behind them to either cut them off with a dremel or drill them out but I will be replacing these when I get the bottle out.

No need to remove the fogs, just the wiring connectors and breathers. If you want to change the screws, do it when the bumper is off..they are easier to access then.
