I started taking my seat box apart so I can replace the ends and the battery box and I kept discovering more and more rot.

I'm going to have to replace the inner sills but I'm not to sure what to do with the pillar as there is a little rot around where the seat belt mount attaches.

Is there a panel available to replace it with or?

I've never seen a repair panel for that bit. So I would just rivet a new piece over it. Used a bit of chequer plate on mine if I remember correctly.

They do seat box ends so you may be in luck.

I think my best bet is to Rivet a bit of Aluminium over the affected area, I already got the new battery box and new seat box ends.

....... I know its really tedious, but this is a seat belt mount we're looking at, with body mass x2 or more in a collision...... not sure some rivets and ally would inspire me with confidence as my face heads through the windscreen.......?? Up to you ......... ? A

(although I agree prob a major improvement on what is holding it together at the mo......)

I'm still in the middle of Painting the battery box, seat box ends and the new Sill so I haven't put it all back together yet, what would you recommend to repair that little area?

Land Rover Defender 90, 110/130 Hard Top/Pick Up Aluminium Strike Plate - YRM Metal Solutions

EDIT: No it ain't that bit!

Would be best to replace that whole panel though as has been said, it's pretty important it's strong!

That is actually the bit he needs. Didn't realise they even sold them.

Aye knew I'd seen them some where, but the seat box in his pics don't look like the Defender seat box in their pics so made me think it isn't for his vehicle. I don't know, I'm not thinking proper just now :crutch:

Because its actually the tub that's rotten. You cant really see that bit until you remove the seatbox or seat box side in his case. As it sits in front of it.
Oh and what yer done?

Picked up some sort of illness from work, got a urine infection and buggered me back, so on a cocktail of antibiotics and painkillers, my **** is luminous yellow!

This was a defender gear box too. Along with a front axle, complete built up bulkhead, a car body shell on a dolly and finally a trailer with no wheels on it. Thanks man, was back to work today so heading in the right direction.

Ok I've finished cleaning stuff up, removing bits ect, I'm just not to sure how to reattach the Sill Channel yet. I know at one side it's bolted just not to sure of the other side

Yeah it bolts up into the tub with a vertical bracket with 2 holes/bolts.

Ah , I was guessing something like that, the replacement sill from YRM has a vertical section. Do I just use those holes for mounting it or a desperate bracket ?

Desperate bracket sounds good, does it include cow pie?

The up right bracket just bolts through the seatbox and tub when all in position. (The bit of yours that has rotted away
