Hi all,

Wondering if it is possible to remove the spider unit so I can start the vehicle without worry if it will throw a tantrum?

Don't want to be at the start of a race and the truck doesn't want to start!

I presume it can be done given the rover EFI engine is used in many off road racers and can't see them using this temperamental system. Don't know too much about the unit so gime all you have.

Before removing the lights, the hazards would occasionally come on when stationary but if I was to lock / unlock the car it would go off and start fine. Never gave much hassle but fear it could worsen.

(3.9 ES manual if that makes a difference with a pre serp RR engine)

Thanks.

Is it a 94MY with a single button fob? If so it doesn't have a spider.

If the vehicle has a spider you can remove it if you wish only a screw or two, but you will still need to un plug and fit the bypass plug arrangement that's available, that's if you wish to go to the trouble of removing the area of dash to gain access to it.

Or you can run an ignition switched-permanent supply to the two circuits that the spider controls and leave the dash alone. Simples :)

Great cheers. Might just be the central locking unit on mine then? It is a 94 yes. Fob looks after market think it had one button (trucks been having roll cage done for months as the guy doing it keeps getting behind  )

I'll have to look more closely when it's back but hopefully it will be a model without one :)
