I have decided to replace the rather tired gear shift gaiter in my manual P38 which requires removing the gear knob but how do I do this? The workshop manual doesn't explain, I assumed it would screw off but if this is the case it is extremely tight.
TIA and Happy New Year

Is there not a grub screw on it, matbe under the gater itself?

Where should I find this grub screw? There isn't one at the top of the gear stick, should I be looking toward the bottom of the stick under the rubber boot?

Use a flat blade screwdriver to pop the gaiter collar off the knob first then it just unscrews.

Thanks for the replies. Turns out brute force was what was needed. There was some thread lock stuff securing the knob, should be easier to get off next time!
