Anyone have experience with the remote key not doing anything after disconnecting the battery? I replaced my steering wheel today, and once I'd gotten everything connected back up my remote fob won't lock / unlock the car. The only way I can start is using the EKA code to disable the immoboliser.

I've used a nanocom to do an RF test and it's receiving a key signal, I've tried to reprogramme the key and it syncs fine but then when it comes to the "detect key" step it doesn't detect the key?

I presume you dont have a second fob then... if you tried to sync the fob to the slot with your fob's internal code not to other the probem is with the fob , can you see the red LED working on it when you unlock? even then it can be a problem with it so untill you fix that remobilise it with EKA code then use nanocom for that: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/recommendation-for-d2-owners.184078/ then you should be able to unlock with the key and start it

Unfortunately no second fob, LED works I've tried a couple of new batteries to be certain. I've managed to disable the alarm / immobiliser as you've described so I can get in and start now. The remote fob just does nothing but a signal is received by the RF receiver, I managed to get it on an Autologic land rover diagnostics with a land rover garage near me to see if it was just an issue with the nanocom.

They had the same issue. RF receiver picks up the key, syncs in key programming tool then at the last step the BCU seems to just lose the key, forget it completely and no longer detect it?

You'll have to try with another fob cos it might send the RF signal but not the code and if that fails too the problem is the BCU, no way to know exctly which of them is making tricks without trying

Yeah I've ordered a new blank remote to try coding that in, beyond that it's looking like a BCU replacement job. At least I can drive it for now!
