I recently noticed my ird/drive shaft seal is leaking. I did buy a new set of seals when I replaced the drive shafts .
The only one I could find on ebay was FREELANDER IRD OUTPUT RH DRIVE SHAFT SEAL UNG100060L on eBay (end time 05-Apr-11 11:56:55 BST) probably used the wrong name for the item ,but at the time I bought mine there were loads to choose from .
Replacing the seal might not do any good at all ,
I should keep reminding myself not to try and advise,before I begin to type.

The VCU was as hot as a cup of tea after a 10 mile test run, I put this down to the previous owner fitting two brand new tyres on the front...
Will swap them over PDQ.
Mine is a bugger to start after leaving it for a few hours or overnight, in seems like fuel starvation to me, just the same as if you ran out of diesel and had just pumped the fuel back into the filter and try to start again. Do Hippos have a non return valve in the fuel feed pipe? Maybe I could try fitting one, any suggestions as to the best place to fit one?

Yep new big tyres on the back and tyre pressures need to be spot on as well.
Bell engineering told me the VCU should only ever be warm?
Bell engineering by the way are a good bunch, really recomend them as when the VCU they sent me was post damaged they fixed it really quick and sent it back on a Saturday so I could fix it over the weekend at no extra cost to me.
My Hippo cost me £300 and after a recon IRD and VCU it walked through the MOT today without a glitch. Really pleased with it so far, now just have to sort the cold start problem and fix a couple of central locking units.

Slow runs around town mine is just warm, but take it on a long fast run down the motorway and it gets hot.....not hot so so can't touch it but it's still hot.
I've done all the vcu tests and it passes them all.
If your concerned i'd give bell a ring and see waht they say.
Your starting probs could be many things....if it's a td4, injectors, cam sensor, bad contacts on fuel pressure sensor etc.
