I am almost finished with rebuilding a 1977 88" but my steering is playing up. When taking the car apart I did not remove the Pitman arm off of the steering box. But I did remove the relay and its two arms from the Chassis.
Now that I am putting it back together in the same setup I have almost full lock left but 5 deg in right turn. When I readjust the lower relay arm I only get +/- 10 deg of turn in the wheels from lock to lock.
If I place the pitman arm in the centre of its travel then re attach the lower relay with the wheels in the forward position then I get 15 deg of left and 5 deg of right at full lock. I have adjusted the rod between relay to wheel radius arm to compensate at each stage, but only has a very little effect.
So what do I do? It seems that I can only get a small amount of turn from lock to lock.
