Can anyone recommend me a garage that specialize in gearboxes in the south, i know about ashcroft, but being in brighton there a fair old trek for me!!

You need to find a really good LR mechanic

Can you explain exactly what you are after? Rebuild or replacement?

If you want the box replacing then you will drive past about half a dozen 'well known' LR garages to get to me. Gumtree in Lewes, Brooklyn Engineering in Romsey, Challenger4x4 to name the first few I can think of

Most decent indy's AND alot of main dealers use Ashcrofts.(LR often are on backorder with gearboxes - along with everything else.....) Ask for a price to fit an Ashcroft box - makes sense.

OK, they might not be the cheapest - but I hate doing a job twice,putting up with the grief etc.At least Ashcrofts stand by what they do.Same as Richard Turner with engines.

yea ashcorfts is 1049 fitted, but luton!!!

gumtree are around 1500 fitted, and thats there local supplier not ashcrofts, and thats a rebuild price

I know what you mean about doing it twice, ill replace the clutch/ and input gear while its all out and i will prob go with a new box not mine rebuilt

auto-europe in gatwick we use them all the time tell 01293 862606
they done the gear box and t-box in my 90 about 4 years ago now with no faults (rebuilt the items i had )
