Those were the days. Grandma bought me a Mini for my 21st four years later it looked nothing like a Mini. Flattened seams, British racing green with a white roof, wide wheels with spacers to correct steering, lowered. Bored out and scimed 1100 block and crank fitted with Hillman Imp HC pistons. Went a bit that did.
What eventually happened to it? :)

Mine started life as an 850, bored out to take Austin Somerset pistons ,all for an extra 100cc. Lowered, wide wheels spacers, deseamed srches Janspeed manifold ending in a Peco big bore back box.stunning red with black leather interior and custom dash, all my own work.it went well and cornered like it was on rails. The Italian Job had a lot to answer for. You still in isolation upstairs Tony or has Sue let you down yet. Stay safe you two.:(

Ah, I was expecting to hear a story about it ending up inverted in a ditch somewhere :D

No i am a very careful driver.:D Also had later full synco gearbox and floor change, higher diff ratio. Full race exhaust manifold, two inch straight through exhaust. Twin 1 1/2" SUs, stage three head, 649 camshaft. Motorcycle W and S valve springs revved to 7500 RPM.

We are good all i need is in (flat B) as it has come to be known. All food is cooked in Flat A and delivered. No washing machines ovens or dishwashers up here which is a blessing.:D:D

Ah the Coventry Climax, I remember it well. Starting handle and an exhaust gas primer. :D If only I could remember what I had for breakfast, Oh I haven't had it yet, still in the pit:rolleyes:

Lazy git get up, i want to see twenty press ups, thirty sit ups and a few squats. Then you can have your breakfast. And no farting on the squats.:D:D

I'm staying in bed very quiet, she's found some exterior paint and dropped some hints about the barge boards and soffits.

Indeed they were a scaled down version of the 1800cc Climax racing engine. So that the pump would meet the spec of being carryable by two men.;)
All the ones I have seen were installed in mobile pumps for Essex Fire Brigade, they could run 24 hours a day when dealing with big fires.

They were good little engines and pretty tunable. My mate used to race one.
We used to race one up against the Fraser Imps semi works team, used to do quite well, I was really just a labourer working on the engines.
