Hi Guys

My 90 original a pickup, was then converted to a van and then to a SW by myself! The new rear door I have fitted is going to have a rear wiper fitted, and when i got it it already had the switch in situ in the front for some reason.

I have the manual and the wiring diagram all looks fine. My only questions I have are:-

1) Where did LR originally fit the fuse? I have a white wire which is the pre fuse colour and a green wire going to the back of the tub in the cover behind the switches so I assume the fuse went under this cover - but this seems to be a quite inaccessible place especially with a radio fitted!

2) There is a second set of wires floating around next to the water tank which match the colours for the rear pump, but i've been unable to find where they terminate - I have searched along the entire wiring loom apart from removing the dash board - is it likely that LR would have tucked them behind there and not poked them up the hole into the space behind the switch?

3) Where did LR fit the relay and voltage stabilizer for the heater rear window - is this what the two spare relay prongs are for in the fuse box?

Many Thanks

James

My 1988 90 had an extra 2-way fusebox next to main one. 10A for the heated window and 5A for the wiper. Poke the two wires down behind the dash and they should eventually work their way into the fusebox. There is a terminal block for the white wire, so if it's too short you can replace it quite easily with a longer one, likewise for the green wire to the wiper switch.

Rather than adding more glass fuses, it might be worth changing them over to modern blade fuses. I did this to mine- you can fit three rows of 8 into the existing mounting plate, giving plenty of space for future additions. Made sense to move the radio fuses from behind the head unit (nasty inline things) into the fusebox this way too.

The relevant wiring should be stuffed behind the switch panel- on mine at least there are a few spares for optional gauges etc. AFAIK Land Rover used one loom to fit all.

The extra relay socket for the heated window should be behind the instrument cluster. If the wiring's in place, there should be a yellow relay socket for the voltage sensitive switch in there too. On mine it must have failed at some point as a previous owner replaced it with a wire jumper- it works that way in any case.
