Hey Chaps,

Since I bought my 2002 TD5 90 the rear wiper has been driving me mad. Everytime I have a look it seems ive fixed it and let it run for a couple minutes and it works fine, though it seems everytime I go to actually use the damn thing fails.

The motor seems to be fine, the blade seems ok too. Though when I hit the switch it moves about 1/4 of the way and gets stuck then will not move, if it even gets that far to be honest.

Tried tightening the bolt, works for an hour then jams again.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thats the thing though the motor appears to be fine, plent of movement when the wipers not fitted and fine for a while but then fails.

could be a burn out motor, (bushes) under no load a motor with worn bushes can behave perfectly normaly, but will not have any torque at all (try holding the spindle with no wiper on it)

either theres a collar slipping on a shaft under load or thr motor itself has no power.

either way its no big deal.... a rear wiper aint exactly essential.

Cheers Ill try that out today.

No not essentialy but little annoying in heavy rain when I can really see behind me!

If it turns out I do need a new motor where does one get a new one from?

Turns out the Wiper arm was catching on the spare wheel cover aswell as the wiper blade grooves had worn out. Done a temo fix with some electrical tape.

Also fitted bosche wipers which are frankly fantastic!
