My down window control cabke snapped what's easiest / cheapest fix?
Are thry a doddle to replace or are they easier to joint?

You need a new cable - comes as a cheap kit from ebay

its a bit fiddly to fit but once you understand whats going on it helps a lot :)

If you get the kit on e-bay with a replacement cable, one of the vendors has posted vids on You Tube on how to rebuild it. Watch it 5 times, then take your laptop/tablet in the garage and watch it bit by bit as you rebuilt the regulator. A fiddly, tricky job if you haven't done it before but worthwhile.

Getting the length is easy enough (for this one tbats snapped anyway) just tojch the 2 sides thats snapped together attach a cable either end so distance is the same (sort of parallel) chop old cable away..
Unfortunately mjnes snapped on the bottom behind spare wheel pully so id have to chop a lot out, looking at cables tho how does it attach at the motor side and how dya get to the glass end?

You need to drop the window slightly, there are two clamps which grip the glass to the regulator, you undo the bolts on the clamps with a 10mm socket. If your window is stuck fully up, you may have to fiddle with spanners or cut the remaining cables to get the window down.

if you look on YouTube and search for "freelander tailgate regulator" there is a vid on how to re-assemble it with new cables, it will become clear as to how it all fits together if you watch this a few times. I doubt you can join the cable with a chocolate block connector as it wont go over the pulleys etc.

Have a look at the vid, you will see what I mean (tip - view the video in HD it's much clearer).

Cheers, luckily it drops (good job at leastcan still use it lol) ill check the link laters and plan for doing it lol

Use one of the kits with stainless cables and outer cable liners. Not just the cheapest.

My window won't come down as the motor is inoperable and I want to remove the regulator. Consequently I cannot access the glass clamps to remove glass. I have searched every conceivable site for a way to resolve this without success. I would be grateful for advise on this.

When my cable broke with the window in the up position I lowered it by cutting the half of the cable

Thank you for that RM, Is there a point where I can access the inner cable to cut it without damaging the outer cable?
