Has anybody got any idea as to where I can get some vynal touch up paint, as my nearside post has a yellow strip down the side and I would like to re-colour it back to black. I've tried a permanent marker pen or do you think model paint would do.

Black boot polish works well on vinyl .

I've tried that and it comes up great,but where the corner edge is there is no colour black only what lookz like this thread colour down it, that's what I want to colour back to black.

Why not just fill the crack, mask them up and spray them both with a rattle can so they match - £4 and permanent?

Vinyl Paint would work well in this instance..

Just make sure you mask well around the area as paint likes to "wander"

I've got one on my project car that is showing lots of yellow on the rear surface. finding any paint that will match up to the not very black matt finish has proved impossible. I plan to just replace the plastic panel with one off my scrapper. Not easy to get off without breaking the glass or cutting up the plastic though.

Problem with many of the trim paints is that they are advised for interior use only.
Only one that springs to mind that's advertised as suitable for exterior is that by SEM.

Although I have used it in the past - years ago & my supplier is no longer trading - a quick google suggests that finding it in the UK might be the issue!

Are the Vinyl repair kits of no use in this regard? I used one to repair a rip in my grandson's bicycle saddle last year.
Effectively you mix the colours (if required) and paint it on with a small spatula.

It doesn't need to be special 'P38 rear quarter paint', paint is paint (exterior yes) plastikote from wilkos will do, if you want certain shades there are billions of different blacks. They will look new and therefore different nomatter what you use.

Plastic primer and satin black, do both corners and they come up ok.
However... The rear side window trims won't match, then when they're done the door window bottom trims don't look right.
End up doing the lot if you're not careful. But makes the whole thing look smart, depends on how far you want to go..!

You only need to worry about certain angles. E.G- I have one amber indicator, one clear and f.wings are different shades (Oxford blue/biaritz blue) it's impossible to tell as you can't see both sides at same time, only one or other.

Paint mismatch would drive me insane..

Having shiny black plastic and grey would be odd, i'd do the whole works if it was me..

The grill and window strips tend to suffer and look crap on aging P38's, as do the bumpers and sill covers.

Best do it properly

It's better than a smashed bonnet/wing. You've helped me code the colour now so won't do it again, but it's kinda grown on me now and they are so similar you can't tell it just looks like the light.

Bumpers will come up okay, they dry out but soak in that polymer oil stuff and quick run over with heat gun to bring the oils out.
Window bits - nothing I've tried properly rejuvenates them, spray is best option be careful
Not to snap taking off/on

A painted black grill and those awkward little strips behind the headlamp wipers painted black makes it up to a new car again..

In years to come wonky wipers will be worth money. They are wonky as standard on passenger side, straight ones have been tampered with - a modified molested version not a classic

Of all the tarting up I've done, painting the grille and cleaning the HL wipers up made biggest difference as to the age-look of the truck. Does it look 24yrs old and rolled over? - grille was cracked badly and is the original
