I have a 96 series 1 300 TDi and need the rear view mirror for it. Tried fleabay but no use. Who do you guys source parts from?
 
I am in Glos. Will be willing to pay and cover postage. Is it the mirror that (I think) slides onto the small 'rail' mounted on the windscreen?

Just drive fast enough so you dont have to use it lol...... er hang on wait it's a disco. Better goto the shop then

Sorry if I have inconvenienced you fella. Just asked a question which no doubt you have done once or twice. Now, FYI - I believe the mirror is NOT suction or self adhesive. I want the original one.

now now cirry arse - chill, baby - the "monotonous" was because all i seem to be doing the last week or so is pointing peeps towards Halfrauds - that is the "monotonous" bit.
yu are, of course, entitled to choose wotever mirror you want.

I can only find reference to stickers in the RAVE for the disco dude, i know my mirror has those ridged strips on one side of the back of the mirror. is that what your telling us?
 
Thanks Heggars. I don't have the original mirror for mine, there is a suction cup on the replacement but it's rubbish. There is a little plastic retainer on the windscreen and it looks as if there is a sizeable surround which then sits onto the windscreen too. Looks like an original replacement should clip into the retianer already there. Will try and get pics tomorrow.
 
Poor etiquette , ya miserable bastid - there was I trying to help ya find a rear view mirror and I get slagged off for it. If ya dont want our help - just Fook orf, or you will be surprised just how mild mannered i am compared with others.

I understand what you mean. It is tapered (and stuck to the window) and the mirror attachment slides over the top, making it removable. I had the same on a kit car. I am not sure if they are all the same but the one I have seen were just flat and mounted via a sticky pad. Maybe the one you have is an aftermarket one?
