Hi,

Does anyone know how I remove the metal support frame that sits vertical in-between the glass on the rear passenger doors? There is a bit of rust developing and I wanted to tackle it asap but not sure how I remove them?

If you want to get that bit out the whole window frame has to come with it. Had to fix my rear window a few months back and followed the procedure in the Haynes manual (and there's probably a how-to on here somewhere), but from memory:-
  • Have the door glass fully up and gaffer tape the glass to the frame.
  • Remove door card and take off the inner and outer window seals.
  • Unscrew the window channel from the lift mechanism.
  • Undo the five (I think) torx headed screws from around the door edges that hold the frame - two at the front and three at the back.
  • Ease window frame and glass upwards.
Once you've taken off the outer window you might be able to see enough to get to the rust and not have to remove the frame, depends how far down it goes. Even if you don't need to remove the frame, still check the window channels while you're there (main and quarterlight), as mine were rusted through.

Magic I'll give that a go. Cheers Spong

One thing, obvious really but.
when you put the frame back in, tighten the bolts up and check to see how the frame meets the seal, .........I wondered where that wind noise was coming from...... o_O

Cheers
