Hi!

My D2's near side rear door has started to catch on the front door.
By the looks of the missing paint on the trailing edge of the front door the rear door's plastic trim has been rubbing it for a while
But now the plastic trim has started to catch making a nasty noise
and the last time it did it it seemed to bend the trim off - making it even more catching.

If the front door is opened first then it does not catch but I don't want to have to tell everyone using the car - I'd prefer to fix it :)

Is this a known problem? Is it easy to fix?
How can I fix the plastic trim flush with the door again (there's about a 2mm gap between the door and the trim)

Cheers!

Your front door hinges may have moved somehow, you can readjust the door forward a couple of millimetres to avoid the rear door rubbing strip catching it. Simly use a spanner on the hinge to A post bolts,I think from memory they are 13mm heads, but you will need a gooseneck spanner to do it(normal crancked spanner)

Thanks

I have no goose necked/cranked spanners - so I moved the rear door back a bit instead.
Its not a perfect solution as it does not like closing on the door lock but I cannot see a way of adjusting that - still stops most of the rubbing for now at least!

Time to get a set of those spanners now - well, at least a 13mm one :)

Now, any known tricks to reshape the 'rubbing strip'?
(preferably in-situ - I hate taking door cards off! :))

No but the door cards are easy on the Disco 2, just take it easy priseing the scrivets out, use a decent trim fork

Its the D2's door cards I've not enjoyed :)
Those little plastic bits never go back for me.

I just found a 1/2" cranked spanner - fitted a treat.
Adjusted the front door and then loosened off back door a bit and thats happier too.

I guess I'll just have to accept I'll need to take the door trim off to fix the rubbing strip - hopefully it'll last as it is until the warmer weather!

Cheers for your help
