What's the best (if any) of removing a barrel from a rear door latch if you don't have the key?

Mines fluffed so picked one up next to nothing but my key doesn't work in the new one.

Drill it?

TIA

Take the handle and lock off the door. There is a small hole on the barrel casing push a jewellers screw driver in and withdraw the barrel, it may be stiff !
push your new one in, then refit lock.

I've got it off, I need to turn the key to expose a brass pin though don't I?

The cylinder pin should be accessible with the key in straight.
As soon as the pin is depressed, the cylinder should easily pull out.

Not home to take a pic at the moment but it's this one

I found on mine that you had to turn the lock barrell with the key for the brass pin to line up.

It *should* be aligned when the key is vertical, but mine wasn't!

You'd still have to remove the remains of the cylinder.
I'd start with a 4mm drill and them increase the size by a couple of mil at a time, and if you can, use a stand drill as it will want to 'run off' centre.
