'Fender is off to one of Ashcroft's fitting stations next month for a new LT77, just been wondering if it's worth getting hold of and taking along a new rear-crank oil seal and seeing if they'll fit it while everything is out?

200TDi engine is at just under 151K, got a good service history which I've just looked over again, clutch was changed at 121K miles but no crank seal mention anywhere.

There is some slight oil around the wading plug area but the plug threads look clean enough so it's not obvious if its from there, could be from elsewhere - when turbo oil feed banjo was leaking oil used to run backwards onto bellhousing while driving.

if its dry leave it ,or if you get it done let them supply it that way if it leaks its there responsibility

Thanks James, that's why I've been thinking about it - if it ain't broke don't fix it?

Can't lose owt by asking!
Very true, I often say that. In this case I may ask about it when I get there and see if they'll do a replacement only if necessary.

Will a seal (OEM or genuine) only generally leak from poor fitting? If so, how soon will a poorly fitted seal become apparent, or is that a bit like asking how long a piece of string is? :p Just attempting to cover all angles as I don't wish to end up having to make the 110 mile round trip twice!

Cheers guys.
