Hi guys and gals,

Ineed of more help!

My rear axle is leaking oil...what is most likely to be? I thought i may be the gasket on the backside or good it even be the filler cap?

Before i can get stuck in I need to invest in a socket set, any recomendations? I was looking at the draper expert 1/2" set, is that the size i would need?

Thanks for the help!

Hey,

Defender 110, the rear axle, it looks likes like a bit of oil could have come out of the filler plug but its conjealing and driping from the botttom of the diff. When i take a look from the other side it looks like it could be comming from the seal from the prop to the diff, bu would the oil level be that high/ should it be?

Thankingyou

You'll need a couple of 9/16" AF combination spanners to take the propshaft off. Try Machine Mart for socket sets I wouldn't be without a 1/2",3/8" and 1/4" drive sets.

1/2" drive ratchet will also pull your filler plug out.

its most likely your pinion oil seal. do a search. plenty on here. easy to do.
