Ooer, I have a volvo v50 that has a six disk player in the dash, it destroyed itself after a battery reconnect.
A common thing, to replace it as it has fiber optic cables and is joined to the heating system in some way will. Cost me 240€ for a second hand unit. I sounds rubbish as well. Unfortunately volvo/Ford have designed this system like this as to make it harder to mod or simply replace. Good luck and hopefully you can help someone else.
