If you don't have a second , or even third vehicle to rely on, leave any green oval product alone. Seriously.
Whilst they run fantastic, when they run. We all have a slight tic, when we go near our beautiful beasts. It is not if, it is when.
If you have another vehicle , then go for it.
Unlike other marques, you will find green oval owners , especially L322s, very, almost to our detriment, honest about our beasts. They are a bit like the hot-crazy scale, only for cars

Stick with the Mitsubishi or look at a Toyota Land Cruiser. Range Rovers cannot be trusted. Hope your wife is OK working in an ITU, must be a worry at the moment.

I would add that if I had the cash for another decent Pajero, I would not be driving a P38. The only compensation is that it stops me getting bored in retirement, I have 2 so one is almost always working plus the Transit.
The newer Range Rovers are an electronic nightmare.

If it's your only car /daily driver , then you would have to listen , very seriously to the warnings given.
I love mine but until recently have always had a reliable car too. I'm currently deciding what to get as second car next. The clever people can tell you the faults of each engine, gearbox, chassis, electronics, etc, but you could look for all the issues told about, buy a great one , run her for a while , but the back of your mind will always be 'when'.
Mine was great for about 2 1/2yrs, just general maintenance. Then the pain started. I was lucky. Some don't get 2 1/2 weeks

It was Ford that really messed things up with the introduction of their CAN bus system that connects critical and non critical systems on a common data highway. Add to that the fact that UK manufacturers seem unable to make a car water tight so in the case of the L322 water leaks into the electronics in the nearside rear quarter and you have a recipe for problems. The auto boxes are not up to much either.

Too true, they have done well for a while but as in the past, eventually lack of quality will impact sales and they will go downhill again.

No such thing as perfect one. All RRs have their own ‘character’ shall we call it.
Got rid of my Shogun V6 for the P38. Dont regret it one bit but not certain it was a rational decision.
Still, there’s something about this one I just adore.
It’s like love ; makes you crazy but it’s a nice crazy.

Correction … historically they have made a great many good ones & I've owned several of them over the decades, including four RRC's.
But then they lost the plot, because buyer's tastes & their higher disposable incomes changed out of all proportion & LR responded accordingly … after all they are in business with share holders to keep on side. We of the 'old guard' wouldn't touch one with a barge pole, but then we are not today's buyers & at the end of the day nobody forces those starry-eyed (but misguided) buyers to part with their money or keep the finance companies in profit
