Hi I am going to look at a N reg range rover P38 it seems in good condition and all working ok I've only had a discovery before and was wondering does the range rover have hi and low box and diff lock like the discovery or does it have a different system as it only has one gear stick unlike my discovery sorry if I sound a bit thick but have never had anything to do with range rovers

Has electrically operated high and low. No diff lock.

Just one thing make sure Hi/Low works, as if not then you may be looking at replacing
the hi/low motor and ecu !! Also if it is auto then try the sport switch mode button,
it will display "s" in the lcd part of the dash, if it does not light up then there may be
a fault with the auto box !! hope that may help you a little

Saying it has no diff lock makes it sound rather naff... a fuller explaination would be that it has a viscous coupling in the centre diff, which provides progressive locking dependant on conditions. Basically it'll lock up enough to get you through without having to think about doing anything.

as already said by rrc,try her in all gears hi & low and lock her into 3,2,1 and check she is switching in and out of low box ok.best of luck

Make sure everything works....and we mean everything as it all goes rather expensive otherwise......hope you buy it if it's a good one.
