Hey all

New to this forum and to Range rovers so HI!

Very happy with my new puurrchase apart from one problem. When running on LPG the car only seems to do about 8 MPG  It runs fine on petrol and gives between 12-15. Now reading through some posts it seems that I should be getting about the same on gas so any ideas why it wouldn't?
It runs lovely and smooth so i would think that would discount leaks. I take it any adjustment would have to be done by a specialist though would it?
Does anyone know of a good one around the South Wales area?

Cheers Chris

i know of a very good one in somerset, lloyd ash.0845 641 0715
come from south wales onto m5 south bound turn off at junction 23(first one for bridgwater) go round roundabout turning off left at 3rd exit, go down dual carriageway in right hand lane a couple hundred yards to another roundabout turn right(heading now towards pawlett, west huntspill, highbridge) after about 100 yards there is an adt auctions entrance on left, just past there , the next building, is lloyd ash. phone and book before coming.

you dont have to have it set up by a specialist, you just need the kit to set it up, usually pc software and cables etc. it is probably easier and cheeper to use a specialist though!

if you are gonna get a specialist in it's probably worth getting the gas system serviced at the same time. it probably hasn't been done and there are filters in the system(i'm lead to believe by a specialist) if these are blocked or damaged for any reason that could alter flow in much the same way as petrol.

you will however not get the same mpg as petrol on lpg has a lower calorific value(energy stored in the gas)

Think maybe Somerset is a bit far to travel to have it looked at lol... Might not be so bad if we get some good weather, make a weekend of it!!

Service sounds like the way to go though, anyone got any ideas about how much that should be costing, don't want to be getting ripped off.

Have found a garage in Neath so will give them a call

cheers

not had mine done yet, only had it a couple of months but i have learnt sooooo much in that time. best thing to do is to ask around and make sure they are lpga approved and have some experience in the matter!!!

be aware tho they might also find a 'problem' it's probably best that you get new plugs and leads on it and do a service as you would on a petrol. get thicker HT leads and better plugs this seems to stop backfiring in most cases(from what i have read) so can't do any harm to mpg.

also be aware that a lean mixture will make the engine run hotter but produce more mpg, there needs to be a balance between mpg and heat.

this should all be explained to you at the garage, you may need to prompt him tho!!!
