Was just thinking, I wonder if there are any original rust free D1,s out there anywhere ???
What do you reckon one would cost ??? guess it would have to be one that has spent life in a rain free country, just a thought !!! lol
As much as mine is extremely tired and a bit rusty I would love one for life !!!

we have rust free D1s here in trinidad but we do get rain . i think the salt on the roads is the major cause of the rust problem you guys have

Even Jap imports can rust after being over here for a time. My 300Tdi auto is now heading into its 8th year with me in the UK and I have had rust repairs done to the bottom of the posts at the rear wheel arch. Certainly all done before holes appeared and my boot floor is sound. I keep a close eye on all bodywork as I have to put the Disco out for repairs and early repair when needed saves big bucks.

Mine is rust free no problem, it was under sealed when new and then waxoyled or similer stuff and washed when salt in on the roads but then it's only a weekend car so 40,170miles in 14 years not Bad.. :D

Cyprus, South Africa maybe.........Import duty and VAT is the usual deal breaker though. VAT goes on everything, including the shipping.

we do , we even have a rainy season ;)

i thought if you import a land rover into the uk its duty free  i guy we buy our landys from in the uk was telling us that

Thats a new one on me........Stuff from the EU might be different. I might be wrong, but I have imported stuff from different countries, and the duty % depends on the type of goods. VAT still applies.

yea im just goin on what he said . something about "a landrover is made in the uk so if it comes back home you are exempt from the duty" . i know we have exemptions for locals who return home with a vehicle they get a 90% reduction in duty and tax but the VAT stays the same
