Hope somebody can help me as this is driving me nuts

I have a d2 es with what I assume is the Harmon kardon system installed although it doesn't have the badge on the speaker covers. It does have the amp, tweeters and separate controls in the third row.

Anyway it all sounds great but whenever I use the cig lighter socket to charge my phone I get interference over the radio. I have 3 different types of USB adaptors that I have tried, all work fine in our other car, but no matter which I use the problem persists.

Anybody had this before and can shed any light?

Phone or its lead is the course of interference or your headunit/amp has an iffy grounding maybe.
Try another phone to eliminate phone/lead issue.

Sorry should have said I have tried my wife's iphone and my samsung and both have the same problem.

So a dodgy earth could be the problem you think?

Only happens on radio, not in cd.

Thanks

Worst case is theres something is failing, as audio kit in vehicles have built-in circuits to combat interference but the grounding the head unit usually eliminates interference. U only need a quick lash-up with a bit of wire to find out.

Could be the electronics inside the chargers, any form of switching supply to alter voltages has the potential to radiate interference either from the plug in section or the cable.
