Hi guys/gals, looking for some help with the radio in my p38. i bought a unit out of an hse with the thought of upgrading to a cd player and multichanger, however when i rigged it all up, i can't get mutch volume. i did notice that the plugs on my se had less connections. any help would be appreciated
cheers

The High Line radios have unamplified outputs to the speakers, they require the amplifiers in the doors. The Low or Mid Line systems can drive the speakers direct.

Get some door amplifiers, loads on eBay for as little as £5 each. They are easy to fit, though you'll need to run some extra wiring from the radio and the BECM as shown in the electrical wiring diagrams.

can i ask you please? the unit you bought if it is not right for you???? would it possibly fit my p38 4.6 hse i got the multi cd changer etc but need a header unit looked all over? previous owner removed it and cut wires etc??so dont know where any of them go

You'll need the ISO connector, 10-pin iirc, try rangeroverheaven.net as he has plenty of wiring looms. You can then add any old connector to join your car's loom to the new connector.

Do you mean you are looking for an original Clarion Diversity type head unit?

Hi Mrs Bash, appologies for not getting back sooner, work at sea, just come home. I still have the head unit and it is from an HSE model, cant recall what i paid for it but if you would like to buy it i will look on e-bay to see if any are listed in order to get a value. i know the head unit was in perfect working order as i heard it working prior to removal. if you need any more info you are welcome to call me 01407 861147. many thanks Roger.

Hi I have an original Alpine type head unit with code from a 99 DSE which will control the CD player and plugs straight into the ISO connector if anyone is looking. I changed to a stereo with I pod control, which fitted straight in and works well with the original speakers of which I think there are 10!
