I'm looking at putting a r380 gearbox in my defender using Lt77 mounts.

Has anyone a picture showing the mounts and gearbox offered into a chassis ?

I've a discovery 300tdi engine and gearbox, looking at using the LT77 gearbox mounts to fit the gear box in and move the position of the engine mounts. I'm in need of the gearbox plates that the rubber mounts fasten to, chassis mounts is all I have.

gearbox is in the correct place for a 300 if you use the crossmember so I have fitted a disco 2 double cardon front that fits perfectly (needed double cardon as I have 6 " spring lift) rear prop is 300 110

cheers steve

if you put the 300 in the correct place, then the fronts will be fine as the 300 def and disco are the same.

you might get away with using your current rear prop, i'm not sure, you'd need to measure it and allow for flexing

If you use a defender or discovery r380 gearbox crossmember , then the engine will be in the right place for pipes to connect to rad , and intercooler, and use stock defender exhaust, and front prop. and 90 r380 rear prop. HTSH

I did mine by fitting engine n box together , bolting box on correct cross member that lines up with 3 of the 4 chassis holes and welding in engine mounts to suit..... originally a v8 so mounts had to be removed as good as it sounded veg oil at 70p a litre won over lol

yeah intercooler is a doddle :) unless you also use a full width v8 rad lol

Yeh, I have the 300tdi gearbox cross member but looking at my measurements the props won't reach. That's if I'm looking at it right !!

if you fit a 300tdi r380 as per lt77 it will sit further back than std 300 tdi meaning engine will need modded parts to fit it

mine was a disco 2 double cardon, will measure its fitted length in morning at work if u want, disco 380 and fender 380 cross member are same ??

cheers steve

the discovery 300tdi r380 mounting cross member needs a slight mod with a hacksaw to allow bolt holes to line up in a 90

not exactly defender has the front edges cut back to allow for seat box mounts, but disco will fit if cut
