Hi,

After breaking apart my only key fob it seems the pcb battery holder has broken away from the pcb and cant solder it back together.

Is there any fobs on ebay that i can get and programme as opposed to spending a fortune at Land Rover?

For now it looks like ill have to bypass the immobiliser but i ideally only want that as a temp solution

Cheers guys

The solder contacts that you solder the holder onto have broke off the pcb.

Its a 3TXB if that helps (on the back of my fob)

Just enter your emergency access code via the drivers door lock that will override the immobiliser while you are waiting for a replacement fob but don't lock the doors as you will have to enter the code all over again which is a bit of a pain I believe.

mine went south on me a while ago

got 3 off ebay I think £20 for 2, £8 for third, and had them coded in, £20 for that job

now just use them in rotation to make sure they still work

if you know some one with the kit get some off ebay and save the money

As it's an important part of your vehicles security system having a spare fob and knowing the emergency access code just in case is i'd thought a must, don't you have an owners handbook either as the info is in there.

Im based in north wales. Ive soldered the one tag i could, then ran three leads from the opposite side where the battery contacts are, and soldered those to one of the tags on the battery holder. but that didnt work. Ive got a basic electronics qualification so i do kind of know what im doing lol

You know what i cant for the life of me remember if i got a handbook with it (not at home at the mo to check the files) ........insert noob car buying insults there lol

Im going to buy a key off this remotekey.co.uk as soon as i can the chassis number. Just need to rescue the car from the local tesco....

Although there are others that provide fobs Remote is the one every one seems to use, the info they need is on their site otherwise call them as I understand they are very helpfull and do a 24hour return on repairs but I expect you know all that stuff by now.:D

Well ive finally got onto the previous owner and to my suprise, has the old fob, fingers crossed it works.
Yeah they seem quite good so an orders going in so this doesn't happen again!
Ive heard that this emergency code is the same as the radio code, how true is that?

No.2 for the above :hysterically_laughi but a LR main dealer will give it to u providing u give them the correct answers on your disco.

Questions like:
What colour is it?
Do you own it?
How many wheels does it have?
Is it a land rover?

Ha only messing around.

Cool cheers guys, ill see if i can source this code too from my local dealer. Thanks for the advice!!

Bit late posting in here but got a fob from remotekey.co.uk and was painless to do.

My spare key still hasn't turned up....typical!

One thing that doesn't work is that after unending the disco, if I jump out and whether I leave the key in or not, when I go to turn it over the immobiliser light on the dash (red key) flashes so I have to lock then unlock before I can turn the disco over....any ideas?

Cheers in advance

It should mobilise itself simply by having the fob (transponder) in the vicinity of the sensor, is this using the new fob from remote key?

For whatever reason it isn't reading the transponder (thats what the red key indicates) - I had that problem when my fob battery was knackered, it was unlocked, unalarmed but it wouldn't start without a functional fob.
